Celebrating the life of
Virginia Fogarty Lang
October 20, 1925 - July 29, 2011
SAVANNAH – Virginia Fogarty Lang, 85, died peacefully at Spanish Oaks on Friday, July 29, 2011. Virginia was born and raised in Savannah.
Virginia met her husband Frank when he was stationed at Chatham Army Airfield and they were happily married for 64 years. Virginia was a devoted wife and mother and also balanced her life while working at different office positions throughout the years. She was the "perfect Southern lady" with a beautiful accent, and she always made people feel welcome. Her role as a caregiver never ceased as she reached out to the residents at Spanish Oaks during the last few years. Her dry sense of humor and zest for life kept her alert and active until the end.
She was a great friend to so many people. If anyone was in need of help, Virginia was there for them. She will be greatly missed by her family, relatives and friends.
While communicants at Blessed Sacrament Parish, Virginia and Frank were very supportive of the parish and school where their children were students. In their later years they joined Saint James Parish. Virginia and Frank could be seen together at church functions, Veterans affairs and as fundraisers for various organizations. Virginia was very active in the St. James Council of Catholic Women for many years and Veterans auxiliaries.
Surviving are her daughters, Barbara, Patsy and Sister Mary Ann; grandson, Glenn Hohnerlein and wife Stephanie; great-grand-daughter, Abby Marie; her brother Richard T. Fogarty and his wife Frances and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Joseph Lang; her parents, Richard and Ruth Fogarty, and her son, Frank Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, August 1st at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church. The family will receive friends and relatives from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A reception will follow the Mass at St. James Catholic Church.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Saint Vincent's Academy, 207 East Liberty Street, Savannah, GA 31401.
Mom, The great love that you shared with dad and each of us is a wonderful example of God's unconditional love for us. Your deep faith in God and devotion to the Blessed Mother sustained you throughout the many challenges of your life. After dad died you surprised us by living life to the fullest and rebounding after several serious illnesses. Your zest for life is an inspiration to me, and that is why I call you my 'miracle mom.' You were there to help so many others and always there to take care of us. I will miss you so much, but am grateful that you are in heaven with Dad and Frankie and that we will all be together someday in the kingdom.

Mom, It has been a week today since I learned of your death. We all believe as you did , that Dad came to get you and bring you back to heaven with him. I know you are happy to be back together again as you missed him so much. I will pray to you and for you, as I will never forget how wonderful you and dad were to me and our whole family. The greatest gift you left us was your faith in God. I know you are with Jesus now. Love, Patsy
